Transportation Design
General Motors
Designed and produced a speedform and fifth scale model of a 2+2 BEV for a Chevrolet customer of 2030 with hand drawings, a clay model, and a digital model.
With assistance from General Motors professionals, my team of three comprised a digital modeler, a clay sculptor, and myself, the design lead.
I started with creating a general sense of the customer I was designing for and gave a feel for the mood and type of vehicle.
The concept was that of a semi-autonomous vehicle that could be used in a fleet of taxis, with a focus on getting people out of the city. This concept drove the visuals principally by a roof made of glass, and the vehicle type, a crossover.
I also experimented with looking at the car as a form of social media, with the car being the hardware and people coming and going, interacting with the people who had been there before them (if it was a taxi). The name of the vehicle, EXINIS, stands for Experience Interactive Isolation.
